FAQ’s About In-N-Out Burger Menu

What menu items have been discontinued at In-N-Out Burger?

In-N-Out offers an extremely simple menu. You get three different kinds of burgers, fries, and drinks. So it makes sense that in the 60 years they have been in business nothing has been discontinued (and added for that matter). In-N-Out remains timeless with a proven menu that essentially doesn’t change ever.

Are there any discounts you can claim at In-N-Out Burger?

Quality and affordability reign supreme with In-N-Out’s menu, thus it makes a good excuse for not having any senior or student discounts. They do not have any rewards programs either. But you can purchase meals via food stamps, however.

Seems like an unrewarding strategy for the restaurant’s loyal customers, but that hasn’t slowed down sales. In-N-Out Burger doesn’t ever offer coupons either to the best of my knowledge.

There is one workaround, however. If you are employed at In-N-Out, you get discounts and free meals. So if you want to get free food at In-N-Out Burger, apply today!

What are the most popular menu items at In-N-Out Burger?

The most popular item from In-N-Out’s regular menu would be the Double Double. In my humble opinion, it’s the perfectly sized burger. Not too big and not too small. The quality of the burger is out of the question as the chain never freezes the beef used for their food. Each meal is made free of additives, fillers, and preservatives, and are delivered straight to their stores from their own facilities.

Is there a secret menu at In-N-Out Burger?

Yes. With such a small offering for their regular menu, In-N-Out’s secret menu is hardly a secret at all.

Double Meat

Think of it as a Double Double but with just two 100% American beef patties and one each of the other ingredients. So you’ll get that with some hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, spread, with or without onions, stacked high on a freshly baked bun.

3X3 or Triple Triple

Three 100% American beef patties, hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, spread, with or without onions, stacked high on a freshly baked bun.

4X4 or Quad Quad

Are you insanely hungry? This secret menu item comes with four 100% American beef patties, hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, spread, with or without onions, stacked high on a freshly baked bun. If this doesn’t fill you up, I’m not sure what will.

Grilled Cheese

In-N-Out’s Grilled Cheese is a popular item from their Not So Secret menu. It contains two slices of melted American cheese, fresh hand-leafed lettuce, tomatoes, and spread stacked high on a freshly baked bun. You can choose to add grilled onions or not.

Protein Style

Your favorite In-N-Out burger wrapped in hand-leafed lettuce instead of a bun. The lettuce surprisingly holds all of the burger ingredients together.

Animal Style

This one is my personal favorite. You can make fries or burgers animal style when ordering. Don’t worry, the cashier will know exactly what you’re talking about.

Making a burger Animal Style, adds a secret sauce that’s similar to thousand island dressing and grilled onions. When you make a side of fries Animal Style, you get dressing, grilled onions, and cheese. I suggest giving this a try and it could be your favorite order.

Are there any In-N-Out Burger menu items for specialty diets?

In-N-Out’s menu only consists of burgers, fries, and drinks like milkshakes. Obviously, there are no salads or veggie menus for vegetarians and vegans. The healthiest you can get from the restaurant is the food themselves always served fresh and free of preservatives.

You can also order a grilled cheese that removes the meat from the hamburger buns if you don’t eat meat.

Who is the target audience of In-N-Out Burger’s menu?

Anyone who wants quality burgers without all the complications. This can be children, teens, adults, rich, poor, middle class— anyone. In-N-Out Burger truly appeals to all races, ages, and economic backgrounds. From their slogan “quality you can taste” is in reference to their small menu (even including their secret menu), In-N-Out only has one target audience: burger lovers.

Did In-N-Out Burger Increase Their Menu Prices?

Does it seem like the prices at In-N-Out Burger increased in 2024? You are not imagining things. Almost everything on the menu has increased.

For example in 2020, combo #1 (a Double-Double with French fries and a medium drink) cost for the meal was only $7.95. Fast forward only a couple years later and the price increased by almost 14% over a 2 year time span. You may have noticed price increases between 10% – 20% depending on the restaurant location and menu item.

Fortunately, you can take heart in knowing that increases in menu prices is passed along to employees in terms of wage increases. In-N-Out Burger is well known as one of the top-paying fast-food restaurants. The compensation shows when you visit a restaurant too. The helpfulness, professionalism and proficiency of In-N-Out Burger employees is unmatched in the industry. You can feel the difference in service when you step into one of these stores.

For example, you cooks at some In-N-Out Burgers make $19.00 or more per hour depending on the market. This is significantly better than other restaurants where employees may only make $14 – $17 per hour to flip burgers. If you’re able to work your way up the ladder, store managers can make $160,000 per year. This is unheard of compensation for a store manager.

Of course, In-N-Out Burger absorbed increased ingredient and transportation costs over the past 24 months as well. Ultimately, the chain has had to pass along these increased costs to guests. Still, I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a better combination of quality and affordability anywhere else in the fast-food industry.

Will prices at In-N-Out Burger ever go back down?

It’s hard to predict if the menu prices at In-N-Out Burger will ever return to the more affordable levels seen two years ago. Menu prices ultimately be determined by a variety of global economic factors including fuel / transportation costs and the price of a variety of ingredients from grains that make buns and of course proteins. As this article from Forbes explains there’s always a lag effect between commodity prices and the price consumers pay for food.

Another thing to keep in mind is that so far, In-N-Out Burger remains affordable compared to other fast-food options. So far, consumers haven’t changed their habits due in part to higher anticipated costs seemingly everywhere. While I don’t have a crystal ball, my guess is higher prices will be sticking around through the end of the year at least.
