Comparison of my game with a billion-dollar earner

This is the sixth part of my "Game in a Week with AI tools" challenge, in which I am creating a Match-2 genre game.

In this series, there will be almost no technical component, as it is simply completed. The game engine is fully ready, and now I am entering the stage of analytics and creating new levels. However, before that, I decided to compare my game with the two best games in this genre and get feedback from you before I start buying traffic for the game.

Previous parts, which contain sufficient technical information, can be found on my Telegram channel.

I don't want anyone to think that this article has any negative undertones towards the compared games — both of these games are super awesome, and I look up to their companies and strive to create something similar.

Therefore, the comparison will be purely visual, with screenshots and videos, and you will draw your own conclusions.

The first game for comparison: Toon Blast

  • 1st place in the Match-2 game category;
  • Over 1 billion dollars earned over time;
  • Stable earnings of $10 million every month.

Statistics:

The second game, Cube Empire Champions:

  • 10th place in the Match-2 game category;
  • Over 20 million dollars earned over time;
  • Continues to earn $200 000 every month.

Statistics:

So, let's start the visual comparison.

Main screen

Core gameplay

Meta gameplay

There is no meta in Cube Empire.

Victory window

Defeat window

Basic stores

Full-screen offers

No full-screen offers were found in the Cube Empire game by the 30th level, but I think they will appear later.

Events

Video comparison

To avoid prolonging the video, I compared the main mechanics of core gameplay, boosters, the victory window, menu, store, and the meta.

What's left off-screen

The most important difference, which is not visible at first glance, is undoubtedly the depth of gameplay, namely the number of levels. Toon Blast has thousands of them, each of which has undergone meticulous work, user feedback, and more work, which is why they are such earners making millions of dollars.

In my project, everything is now in place to easily and simply create levels, receive user feedback, and improve them. However, the plans for the project will be in the final part, so leave reactions and write what can be improved.
