How to Earn $500 in Affiliate Commission on Affiliate Networks and Standalone Programs with TikTok Organic Traffic

In this case study, we'll be examining how to use TikTok organic traffic to generate affiliate commissions in three weeks. At the end of this case study, our audience will be able to use Tiktok's organic traffic to boost their affiliate revenues and get comparable outcomes.

Vivian is an online marketer who has primarily made money through affiliate marketing. She also enjoys educating people on how to quit daily 8 am to 5 pm jobs, launch an affiliate marketing business, work just a few hours each day, and spend more time with their families. She shares part of her online money-making knowledge on her website.

Overview of the Strategy

Vivian earned a commission of $506.77 in three weeks by promoting a Clickbank product and Fiverr affiliate marketing program using the method we'll be looking at.

The  Fiverr affiliate program is a "standalone" affiliate program. A standalone program is not listed on marketplaces run by affiliate networks; therefore, you have to research them with search engines like Google and Bing.

Fiverr is considered one of the most dominant marketplaces for freelancers, and its affiliate program is very easy to join with less rigorous requirements. Anyone can join because there is no need for having a website, which is required for most standalone affiliate programs.

To partake in the Fiverr affiliate program, you will first have to create an account, which is different from the Fiverr account used for selling or buying. It is important to note that the platform pays you a commission only for orders placed by first-time buyers (F.T.B.s). The platform has an active C.P.A. (Cost Per Acquisition/Cost Per Action) commission structure and you qualify for this once someone purchases through your affiliate link. Commissions earned vary with the price of the product on the platform so the commission you are paid depends on the type of product/service that the buyer purchases.

Fiverr's Plans

This is the original Fiverr marketplace where freelance services, such as writing, design, marketing, editing, video, etc., can be bought or sold and the commission for these services ranges from $15 to $50.

Fiverr Pro Plan

Fiverr Pro is an expert version of the original Fiverr, where only sellers hand-vetted by the platform can offer their services. Since only highly rated professionals can get accepted here, the services are generally more expensive (the minimum price for a Fiver Pro gig is $100.)

Learn From the Fiverr Plan

Learn from Fiverr is the platform's academy where freelancers can take courses and polish their skills in their respective fields. They can take courses on digital marketing, design, branding, etc. Even though Fiverr courses primarily target freelancers already on the platform, anyone can take these courses. The commission for every course order is $30.

AND.CO

Fiverr acquired freelancing software AND.CO aims to provide more structures to freelancers and even small businesses. Specifically, this SaaS application helps freelancers organize their gigs, keep track of time and manage to invoice efficiently. The commission for every AND.CO Pro plan is $30.

There are other kinds of standalone programs you can choose to promote. Make sure you research very well on Google and analyze all the commissions attached to the programs so you can know how best to go about it. Recently, AI tools' standalone affiliate programs are getting common and their rewards are attractive.

Step-by-Step Process of Promoting Products on Affiliate Networks

Affiliate marketers use different strategies to go about choosing and promoting products on affiliate networks, and Vivian summarized and divided her strategy into three steps which are:

Step 1: Pick a niche of choice.

Step 2: Choose a marketplace to get a product.

Step 3: Choose a platform to promote your affiliate link.

Step 1: Pick a Niche of Choice

First, you have to decide which niche to promote a product in, and the niche should be something you are familiar with or something you are willing to learn more about. According to Vivian,

"I always advise anyone doing affiliate marketing to pick a niche based on what he is familiar with or what he is willing to learn more about because if anyone is going to be taking affiliate marketing as a full-time job, it can be exhausting. So, focusing on what ones like and can easily learn helps achieve tremendous success in the business."

For Vivian, she chose the walk-from-home niche, and while explaining the reason she chose it, she said,

"The reason why I chose this niche was that I find it very easy to find work-from-home jobs, and it is very easy to tell people about it. All I did was to find companies that are hiring people online, then bring people's attention to such opportunities."

Step 2: Choose a Marketplace to Get a Product

After picking a niche, the next thing is to choose a marketplace to get a product for the selected niche. The marketplace Vivian chose is Clickbank and the name of the product is "Get Paid to Use Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.” The product has a gravity score of 302.85, an initial conversion of $22.53, and a recurring commission of $43.48.

To promote Get Paid to Use Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, log in to Clickbank, go to the marketplace, and scroll down to the E-business segment to get your affiliate link. There are a lot of work-from-home products in the E-business segment, but Vivian decided to settle for this one. So, check all the products very and make your choice.

She said,

"'Get Paid to Use Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube' has a high gravity score which means other people are promoting this product and the product is converting well. Also, I considered using more than one product from this segment, but I eventually decided to promote this particular product because I don't want to confuse people by having two different products that solve the same problems and offer similar values."

Step 3: Choose a Platform to Promote Your Affiliate Link

Vivian chose Tiktok as the platform to advertise her affiliate link. First, she chose its organic traffic because it is very easy to go viral and gain more views and engagement on it. Second, creating content that is currently popular and trending on the platform makes it very simple to grow an account more quickly.

At first, Vivian's account was very slow in generating consistent traffic; however, she kept on posting videos consistently, and as soon as she hit the 1 000 followers mark, everything started picking up.

On her Tiktok account, some of her work-from-home job videos have gone viral. For example

  • Side hustle for ladies: you are going to earn by talking to people and being their friend — 1.2millon views
  • Nike pays $3k+ per month — 91 100 views.
  • SIDE HUSTLE: $100/HR feels illegal — 19 000 views.

In these videos, she talked briefly about the nature of the jobs, and some of the issues she discussed are: expected pay from the job, who the jobs are best suited for, what the applicants will be doing when they eventually get the job, and so on.

Another important point about Vivian's first set of viral videos is that she didn't ask her audience to buy anything or redirect her audience to her affiliate page. Instead, she used a call to action asking them to follow her on that particular account because at that time she was still trying to grow the account and hit the 1 000 followers mark.

How to Make Promotional Tiktok Videos

Generally, Vivian finds inspiration and ideas about what type of videos she makes by searching "work from home" and TikTok suggests top-performing work-from-home accounts and videos. If you follow her advice, you can follow up on the accounts and videos that resonate best with what you are doing in your niche.

Vivian followed a user named Wfh.mama, who shared popular work-from-home videos and has more than 133 600 followers with almost 600 000 likes. To model after viral videos, go through the account to understand what the creator is doing, and take inspiration only from videos that have gone viral on such an account. Some of her videos lack a voiceover, so you can add your voice to provide product details, and this will add more value to yours. Vivian followed up with 10 creators with work-from-home jobs videos, and this enabled her to sieve through many ideas to choose the best. Also, this ensures she has enough content ideas. Creating content means you must have enough ideas to post, but we know that it is a bit tough to keep creating content. Therefore, you can be easily inspired and get ideas for making different quality content consistently by watching videos of different influencers. You just need to caution yourself not to copy ideas that inspired you without making a few changes in your videos.

Lastly, Vivian said that,

"Doing affiliate marketing with Tiktok is not difficult if you are willing to put in the work required, which is consistency. Also, the key to being successful with affiliate marketing in a long term is to only promote products that you've tested. This will protect your reputation and keep you from gaining hatred from your audience."

Income

  • 21 days commission: $506.77
  • Refunds: $167.14
  • Total income: $339.63

Conclusion

We've examined in this post how Vivian's affiliate marketing strategy works well with organic Tiktok traffic. The strategy is based on three primary steps: pick a niche, choose a marketplace to get a product to promote and choose a platform to promote your affiliate link.

You should pick a niche that interests you before doing any other thing, and the reason to do so is to ensure you can sustain producing content for the product you will promote in the long run. You can easily run out of content for topics you are not familiar with and not interested in. Vivian chose the work-from-home niche because she thinks it's easy to recommend work-from-home jobs for people, and the product she promoted was "Get paid to use Facebook, Twitter and YouTube." - a Clickbank product with a high gravity score of 302.58.

Also, we analyzed how Vivian promoted her affiliate link using her Tiktok account, which initially was a struggle; however, when the account hit the 1 000 followers mark, commissions started rolling in consistently. She based her videos on ideas she got from the top-performing accounts in the same niche. Consistency is an important factor in applying this strategy.
