How to Change the Currency in Facebook Ads in 2024

Many of us use Facebook Ads for our own business or for managing ad campaigns for other people. Sometimes we need to change the currency set for previous campaigns due to increased exchange rates or for any other reasons.

Step-by-step: Changing Currency in Facebook Ads

You can change the currency used for Facebook Ads in three simple steps. The entire process takes no more than a couple of minutes.

Step 1. Open Ads Manager and go to Ad Account Settings.

Step 2. Under the field Currency, click the link Change Currency.

Step 3. Select a new preferred currency and time zone. Agree to Create New Account.

You need to know that when you change a currency, automatically you create a new account. So, you will see a warning from Facebook to confirm the changes and create a new account. Anyway, you can find your old ad account in the top left of Ads Manager, in the Account dropdown. All ads that were running for the old account are still billed in the old currency. Besides, Facebook warns that users who chose a monthly invoice option for ad payment cannot change the currency for the account.

That’s it. The currency for your Facebook Ads has been changed. Additionally, you’ve got a new Facebook Ad account with a new currency.

Important Notes

Actually, there are some aspects to keep in mind before you’ll try to change the currency.

Important:

  • You should be an admin of the ad account to adjust any ad account’s settings.
  • Facebook allows changing the currency you use for Facebook Ads once every 60 days given that you do not have a current balance.
  • Note that when you change the preferred currency, you have to wait for 72 hours before you can change it back.
  • Keep in mind that the choice of the preferred currency determines available payment methods.
  • In some cases, the choice of a country and selected currency must match. This rule applies to Poland, India, and Brazil.
  • If there are several accounts associated with your Facebook Business Manager account, you cannot change the currency preference. You have to open a new account with the new currency via Business Manager.

Note: If you don’t see the option to change Facebook Ads currency, there might be one of the following reasons:

  • You have already changed your preferred currency within the given time limits.
  • The account is unsettled or you still have ads pending review.
  • You try to change a currency to someone’s account other than yours. It may sound weird but it happens.

Conclusion

The described above method of changing currency works for Facebook Ads. As you’ve seen above, the process is very simple. If you need to change the currency for other purchases, you need to follow the other procedure on your personal Facebook page.
