Driving Native Ads with Kadam into Adult Dating with a 65% ROI

Hello everyone, Kadam here! We've launched our "$500 for Your Case Study" campaign and are sharing the experiences of users on our blog. What follows is a first-person narrative. And if this case study inspires you, you'll find a bonus at the end for testing your hypotheses and potentially profitable combinations in Kadam. Let's get started!

How It All Began

It all started very simply and mundanely. Over a cup of coffee, I decided to test native ads with Kadam. Of course, I had used it before; my account with Kadam is over 7 years old, but I had only used it for nutra, not adult dating. I had run some micro-tests, but it was more playful than serious. In fact, this campaign also began as a lark; I didn't even use a tracker, taking a nonchalant approach. That was a mistake, of course. My advice: ALWAYS use a tracker! I took a direct link, set up a postback conversion in Kadam, and decided that would suffice. But let's go step by step.

As I mentioned, I didn't fuss much about it, asked my Cpamatica manager for a converting offer for Germany. I took a couple of creatives that I had used for other GEOs, translated them into German, launched them, and shifted my focus to other campaigns. After a while, I noticed leads coming in with a pretty sweet ROI. I got excited and started uploading various creative formats, using different texts and images.

At one point, I realized that one particular combination was working exceptionally well, where I used "NAME 🟢 (1) Private Nachricht". I simply started using different female names popular in Germany, and for images, I looked for amateur photos of nude women, obviously from open sources. I created 47 creatives in one day. Traffic flowed, leads followed. The Kadam algorithm began to filter out, in its view, ineffective teasers. Eventually, about 7 remained, which started generating the bulk of the leads. In fact, the majority of leads came from three teasers, while the others were either filtered out by Kadam's algorithm or just generated fewer clicks.

After the initial setup, the most challenging part of which was the routine of finding images and names suitable for the GEO, I almost did nothing. I might even say I neglected the campaign. From time to time, I adjusted bids based on ROI and the amount of traffic I could capture.

Paradoxically, I didn't even blacklist any platforms. I simply looked at the average CPA per platform and lowered the price to stay profitable. Eventually, they dropped off either because there was no buy due to the low bid, or they provided cheaper traffic and increased the ROI.

The campaign continued for over 4 months (yes, over 4 months without changing creatives), all going steadily with little intervention from me. Then the ROI began to sag, I panicked, decided I had squeezed all I could from the offer, put it on pause, and started testing others in this combination, but that's another story.

Now, from theory to practice :)

Setting Up Postback Without a Tracker

In the Cpamatica postback, I put this link https://kdtrk.net/ru/postback/?data={click_id}&cost={payout}. Be careful with the {payout} parameter, it is transferred in USD. If you have a ruble account in Kadam, like I did in this campaign (account over 7 years old), instead of {payout} you need to specify the amount per lead in rubles. In the Click ID field, insert the {click_id} parameter.

This campaign happened without any additional pre-landers, in "Choose offer pages" I chose 0: Default. Don't forget to put a unique identifier in the Source field that will filter this campaign from others (sources, formats, etc.). If the advertiser dislikes one of your sources, they will ask you to stop it specifically (based on Source), not your entire traffic.

Campaign Settings

Now let's move on to the most important part – setting up the campaign in KADAM:

Format: Teasers

GEO: Germany

Categories: I chose all, as during the moderation of the creative it is assigned a status, and it won't be shown on platforms where adult content is not allowed.

Platforms: Android

Devices: Smartphone

Browser: Chrome. I don't know why, but it shows the best results for me. Browser

Language: German

As for the bid, it's a bit more complicated: I started with $0.004 per click and went up to $0.011 per click. Unfortunately, the campaign was without a tracker, so I can't show a graph with the price, the selection of peaks that motivated me to lower or raise it. But let's take the average price, dividing the total amount spent by the number of clicks. The average cost per click was $0.006. Meanwhile, I had 2 campaigns (I don't even remember why I made a duplicate and switched to the second one). I stopped the first one when copying at a bid of $0.005.

The stop in the second campaign was at $0.01. It's hard to say what exact profit it gave at the moment of stopping; I just decided to try new offers in this combination.

During this test, a total of $1941.3 was spent.

For this amount, I received 1214 leads (6 leads were lost in Kadam's statistics, I messed up the postback at the start, and they didn't register). This brought me $3217.1.

Currently, I continue to test this combination with other offers, so I will show only 2 teasers to give you an understanding of the algorithm and logic of actions. But this is just an example: each combination and approach tends to burn out. So don't blindly use mine as an "ideal template". Create a large number of teasers with different headlines, styles, and then look at the CTR, lead cost, and base your strategy on this data.

The pre-lander looked like this:

Conclusions

My case study shows that you should never take a casual approach to testing, even the smallest and most insignificant ones, as they can provide you with a stable and profitable combination. Also, always set up a tracker, even if you don't expect serious results. And another observation: testing a large number of creatives and personalizing them definitely makes a difference.
