Let's dive into this article...

Analysis of the YouTube Channel

The name of the YouTube channel is Tech Up Trend, and according to YouTube, the channel has 498 subscribers as of the time of putting together this post.

Vick described the channel this way:

"On this channel, we create and post the best technology videos where we put together lists of the coolest gadgets in specific categories worldwide, from the newest budget laptops and smartphones to gadgets you wouldn't even think of."

The channel is in the technology and micro-niche of the electronics niche. It was created on December 7th, 2021, and currently has 35 videos uploaded to it. The channel is being operated from Canada, and so far, its top 8 videos have generated over 89 700 views in the last year. It is amazing that a channel with less than 500 subscribers and with only 35 total upload views can generate a total of 89 700 views.

When commenting about the channel, Alston, another Youtuber, said,

"In my opinion, looking at the channel, they've made a lot of money; the cool thing about the channel is that it's a faceless channel, and they are not the manufacturer of any of the products they are making videos about."

Although the number of the channel's subscribers is small, it has little to no effect on the revenue made through affiliate marketing on the channel, it is the number of views that matters. For example, the CTR, and click-through rate of every 100 views is 4.35. This means out of every 100 views, there are 4.35 clicks. Therefore, the number of CTR  from the top 8 videos is 3 900. Note that this figure is the number of viewers who watched the video from the beginning to the end.

A careful look at the titles of the videos above revealed that there are two types of videos that people watch the most. They are:

  • the top or best 7 to 10 video reviews, and
  • Individual product reviews

Interestingly, although most people may watch individual product review videos,  they may end up not buying the product if the product is expensive. For example, most people only watch video reviews on expensive Samsung and Sony products to use as a benchmark for features on cheaper products on the market. People watch individual product review videos to learn about the product's features and what they should look for in lower-end brands of similar products they will be purchasing. Even if most viewers have money and are ready to buy specific items, they may want to satisfy their curiosity to know if their decision is the best for making the purchases; thus, they may first watch these types of videos.

Since we've seen that the top-performing videos are in two groups, let's consider the video description of one video from each group.

Top 7s: TOP 7 BEST MIRRORLESS CAMERA 2022

First, the top 7s all have one thing in common: they all have a year tag. In this case, we can see 2022, which helps the viewer know how recent the features are.

Second, the links to all seven products listed in the video are all Amazon affiliate links that are shortened to ease tracking of viewers' activity with the link. Another important aspect of the video description is a summary of the whole video which helps the viewers understand the video without necessarily watching the video.

Individual Product Review: SAMSUNG QN85B QLED TV REVIEW | 4K Mini-LED | Too Bright?

One feature shared by all videos in this group is a question in the title, "too bright?" The video description has a hashtag with the product's model number, QN85B, after that is the Amazon link to the product and a quick summary of the product description captured in the video.

Videos in both the top sevens and the individual review segment have a  disclaimer section that contains a legal aspect of the disclaimer and the "friendly appeal" aspect, which reads:

"We do not own the video materials, and all credits belong to the respectful owner. In case of copyright issues, please contact us immediately for further credit or clip delete"

How to Use Amazon to Know What Type of YouTube Video to Make

Making a YouTube video using Amazon to get ideas is not complicated, just head over to Amazon and check through the department section.

For the purpose of this article, the electronics niche is where we will choose our product since the YouTube channel is in the technology niche. There are already enough products in the electronic section to create content for, but to narrow it down more; it is better to go to the TV sub-section in the electronic section.

After getting to the TV sub-section, copy the name of any TV, for example, "Samsung 32-inch TV," and paste it into the YouTube search bar, adding "review" at the end of the search query.

This will bring up all the video reviews of this Samsung 32-inch TV with the views they have garnered over time. From the above screenshot, the number of views on videos varies. Some of the views are 488 000, 502 000, 131 000, etc. However, the kind of videos we are looking for are those that have a low subscriber ratio to the number of views. For instance, if a channel has 500 subscribers and a video from that channel has about 3 000 views, it is a very good video to model after. You can create your version of the video by getting more content from the product's manufacturer's website or even the buyers' testimonial videos on marketplaces such as Amazon.

How to Make Money From YouTube Videos

There are two main ways to make money with YouTube: first, by joining the YouTube partnership program, and second, through affiliate marketing.

First to join the YouTube Partner Program,  creating great video content is compulsory, so you can follow the tips in this article to create your videos. In addition to the method in this article, you can promote your YouTube channel through various social media platforms to get more engagement.

Once there are at least 1 000 subscribers on the YouTube channel, 4 000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months, you can apply to the YouTube Partner Program. This option is the best way to generate income via YouTube videos because it will keep generating income as long as the video exists on YouTube. It is a passive income strategy that many YouTubers struggle to achieve due to its high longevity.

Second, you can join affiliate networks like Clickbank, Digistore24, Warriorplus, etc and use YouTube videos to promote their products. As an affiliate, there is no requirement for affiliate marketing with YouTube videos, so you are free to promote any product as long as it satisfies YouTube rules. This is an excellent option for YouTube channels that offer review videos, how-to videos, and channels that frequently recommend new products to their viewers.  Tech Up Trend used this strategy because he didn't meet YouTube's requirements for becoming a partner at the initial stage, so he subscribed for affiliate marketing rather than YouTube ads. At the initial stage, you can join affiliate networks and promote their products when you get started, and as soon as you meet the YouTube partner requirements, you can apply for it.

Conclusion

In this article, we discussed how it is possible to do affiliate marketing with a YouTube channel without showing one's face or even producing the product being promoted. We focused on a YouTube channel that excels at this: Tech Up Trend, a faceless channel in the technology and micro-niche of electronics.

We analyzed Tech Up Trend's top 8 most viewed videos to see what they're doing right and discovered that their top videos could be divided into two groups which are: the top 7s reviews and individual product reviews. The channel generates ideas for making YouTube videos by using Amazon.

Finally, we looked at the two ways YouTube channels are monetized: through the YouTube partnership program and by promoting affiliate products through videos. In all of this, keep in mind that creating and monetizing a YouTube channel is not a journey that will be the same for everyone.
