Integrations & engineering
One contract and one API instead of a separate deal per studio, feed, or PSP. Here's what connects, how fast, and on what stack.
Operators integrate through the hosted Payment Page, the Web SDK, server-to-server REST, or the Simply Connect embedded checkout, all documented at docs.nuvei.com. Gaming merchants clear underwriting for gambling MCCs with the regional Nuvei entity, then configure APMs, Instant Bank Transfer, and payout rails (RTP, FedNow, ACH, Visa Direct, Mastercard Send) per market. Operators on GiG's platform can take Nuvei pre-integrated through the CoreX partnership instead of building direct, and Simplex handles crypto on/off-ramp flows under the same corporate roof.

The history
Longevity in this industry usually comes with a change of owner somewhere in it.
Philip Fayer founded the company in Montreal in 2003 as Pivotal Payments, a North American merchant acquirer, and rebranded it Nuvei in 2018. The 2019 SafeCharge acquisition (US$889M) brought the gambling-payments DNA, a Cyprus EMI, and the gaming cashier, and a five-year buying spree followed: Smart2Pay, Base Commerce, Mazooma, Simplex, Paymentez, Paya, and Till Payments. Nuvei listed on the TSX in September 2020 in what was then the largest Canadian tech IPO, added a Nasdaq listing in 2021, and left the public markets in November 2024 when Advent International completed a US$6.3B take-private at US$34 a share, with Fayer, Novacap, and CDPQ rolling equity. In June 2026 it agreed to buy Payoneer for about US$2.75B, expected to close mid-2027.

Longevity and ownership
Switching vendors is expensive, which makes the company's staying power part of the purchase. What the contract says about your data decides how expensive an exit gets.
Nuvei vs alternatives
Most buyers in this market shortlist three or four vendors long before they take a single sales call.

Support & account management
You can't demo service before you sign, so what a vendor puts in writing is the only floor you can hold it to.
