PXP Review
6.2/10UK acquirer and US gaming gateway with bwin roots, privately owned since the 2022 exit of Senjō Group: an FCA-authorized Payment Institution and Visa/Mastercard principal member since 2011, BetMGM's seven-state gateway since 2021, 200+ payment methods, and a 2025 cloud re-platform called Unity.
Our read
- A regulated-US gaming record: BetMGM across seven states since January 2021, Tipico US since November 2020, and Penn Interactive in 2021.
- Own home-market acquiring: FCA-authorized Payment Institution FRN 504318 since April 2018, Visa and Mastercard principal membership since 2011, and PCI DSS Level 1.
- Omnichannel depth on one gateway: online, POS, SoftPOS, and cash at the casino cage.
- Gambling payments roots going back to bwin's internal payments department, with bwin's descendant Entain a client today.
- Unity, launched in January 2025, is a cloud-native re-platform with real-time data and webhooks, followed by Checkout Components in September 2025.
- Not the acquirer of record in the US: the model is a full-service gateway plus a New Jersey money-transmitter license, with acquiring carried by US partners.
- EEA acquiring is partner-dependent, and the partner has changed twice since Brexit.
- Pricing and commercial terms come through sales.
Regulated operators building out US multi-state card and APM routing that want the same gateway to cover UK card acquiring and retail sportsbook or casino POS down to the cage, including anyone on EveryMatrix, which has carried a PXP connector for the US market since 2020.
Crypto-first or offshore operators, EEA-anchored merchants who want direct EU acquiring on the provider's own license, and smaller operators who need published pricing or self-serve onboarding.
Markets & licensing
PXP does its own acquiring in the UK. Everywhere else it supplies the gateway while a partner does the acquiring: partner acquirers in the US, an Austrian partner in the EEA.
PXP Financial Inc. is a full-service gateway rather than the acquirer of record, with acquiring riding US partners behind the single API. The footprint is BetMGM live in seven states since January 2021 (TN, IN, NJ, CO, WV, PA, MI), a New Jersey money-transmitter license from around 2021, and a spot on Pennsylvania's approved gaming service provider list dated February 18, 2026.
This is where PXP is an acquirer in its own right: FCA-authorized Payment Institution FRN 504318 (April 26, 2018), principal membership of Visa and Mastercard since 2011 with Discover and Diners alongside, and settlement in one of 11 currencies on flexible cycles. The authorization is a Payment Institution rather than an e-money institution.

Integrations & engineering
One contract and one API instead of a separate deal per studio, feed, or PSP. Here's what connects, how fast, and on what stack.
One gateway integration covers every channel: a single API connects card and alternative payment rails online, standalone and integrated POS, SoftPOS, and cash at the casino cage. Unity, the January 2025 cloud-native re-platform, added a service catalog, real-time dashboards, data warehouse access, customizable webhooks, and intelligent routing, and Checkout Components supply modular hosted checkout. Acquiring can run on PXP's own UK rails or across an acquirer-agnostic mode with 10 partner acquirer connections, and the in-house risk and fraud module is available standalone. Casino platforms can also reach PXP through the EveryMatrix/MoneyMatrix connector built for the US market in 2020.
Products & tools
One gateway contract covers the stack: the Unity platform rebuilt in 2025, PXP's own UK card acquiring with an acquirer-agnostic mode behind it, a gaming vertical that runs from online cards down to cash at the casino cage, and a risk and fraud module the company also sells on its own.
PXP Unity
The January 2025 re-platforming of PXP's legacy gateway: cloud-native, built in-house, one integration for online and in-store (standalone POS, integrated POS, SoftPOS), with a service catalog, real-time data dashboards, intelligent routing, and customizable webhooks.
- Single integration across online, POS, and SoftPOS acceptance
- Real-time analytics dashboards plus data warehouse access
- Intelligent transaction routing as a platform service
- Customizable webhooks for event delivery
- Checkout Components launched September 15, 2025 as modular hosted checkout pieces
- Built in-house, with AI-assisted engineering practices
Acquiring
The UK-anchored acquiring business: principal membership of Visa and Mastercard since 2011 with Discover and Diners alongside, card acceptance in any currency with settlement in one of 11 supported currencies, and an acquirer-agnostic mode with 10 additional acquirer connections.
- Visa and Mastercard principal membership dating to 2011
- Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Diners, and UnionPay acceptance, with Apple Pay and Google Pay on top
- Settlement in one of 11 supported currencies, acceptance in any
- Acquirer-agnostic mode routing across 10 additional acquirer connections
- Flexible settlement cycles: daily, weekly, or monthly
- PCI DSS Level 1
Gaming
The vertical PXP grew out of: a full-service gateway for regulated operators with 200+ alternative payment methods, single-API routing across card and APM rails in the US, and omnichannel coverage that includes retail sportsbook POS and cash at the casino cage.
- 200+ alternative payment methods and financial services
- Full-service US gateway model: one API across card and alternative payment solutions
- Cash at the casino cage linked to the digital stack
- Deposits and withdrawals including instant bank-to-bank APMs
- BetMGM live across seven states (TN, IN, NJ, CO, WV, PA, MI) since January 2021
- A public MCC directory covering MCC 7995 for betting and casino gambling
PXP Protect
In-house risk and fraud prevention that PXP sells both inside the gateway and as a standalone service, sitting alongside smart routing, an omnichannel token vault, and 3DS handling.
- In-house fraud prevention, sellable separately from processing
- Smart routing module across acquiring connections
- Omnichannel tokenization spanning online and in-store payments
- 3DS handled within the gateway
- Chargeback handling folded into the risk suite
The history
Longevity in this industry usually comes with a change of owner somewhere in it.
PXP is three lineages fused together. Servebase, a UK POS payments firm founded in the 1980s, became PXP Solutions and gave the company its name when Kalixa bought it on May 27, 2014. Kalixa itself grew out of the internal payments department of bwin, whose parent GVC took over in 2015 and sold Kalixa Group to Singapore's Senjō Group for €29M, signed December 19, 2016 and completed May 31, 2017. The 2018 rebrand made it PXP Financial, and the Senjō era ended on March 21, 2022, when two US individuals, Omar Ali Chohan and Marisa Montrivisai-Chohan, became the owners. Post-Brexit EEA clients moved to a Lithuanian EMI partner and later to an Austrian partnership. The January 2025 rebrand to plain PXP arrived with the Unity platform.

Longevity and ownership
Switching vendors is expensive, which makes the company's staying power part of the purchase. What the contract says about your data decides how expensive an exit gets.
PXP vs alternatives
Most buyers in this market shortlist three or four vendors long before they take a single sales call.

Support & account management
You can't demo service before you sign, so what a vendor puts in writing is the only floor you can hold it to.
