Zimpler Review
6.9/10Swedish gambling-first pay-by-bank provider that beat its own regulator in court twice, sits directly inside Swish and Pix, and has been a TrueLayer company since March 2026.
Our read
Deep where it plays: Sweden and Finland at bank-level depth, Brazil live, and vendor-stated reach of 25+ markets and 350M+ accounts. One method class, no UK, and no US cap it.
Instant player payouts are the core product, Swish runs as the first-ever direct PSP participation since Sep 11, 2025, SEPA handles cross-border, and Pix clears directly in Brazil.
The segment's best story: an FI-supervised payment institution, own Brazilian BCB authorization plus direct Pix participation, and appellate confirmation in February 2025 that its Swedish operator book broke no gambling law.
Fourteen years and a fully transparent ownership chain, set against a 2.6/5 Trustpilot with 39% one-star and zero company replies, plus unresolved product overlap inside TrueLayer.
Zimpler GO delivers full Pay'n'Play, ID+ adds reusable identity with vendor-stated uplift, and Pragmatic Solutions plus Bejoynd handle platform distribution. Developer docs are not public.
Nothing on the record from any primary source: no rates, no setup or minimum figures, no settlement terms.
Methodology. Our own score, a weighted average of six dimensions, tilted toward coverage and settlement. Under open-banking weighting, coverage at 0.24 and settlement at 0.22 decide most of the outcome, which makes Zimpler's 6.9 a footprint number: the segment's best compliance story and a genuinely fast payout stack get pulled down by a market map that stops at the Nordics plus Brazil and by a rate card that does not exist in public. Read the full methodology
- Beat its own regulator twice on the record: Spelinspektionen's July 2023 injunction was annulled in May 2024, and the appellate court threw out the regulator's appeal in February 2025, finding no illegal gambling had been shown.
- First payment company ever inside Swish as a direct participant, announced March 10, 2025 and live September 11, 2025, with no sponsor bank in the chain.
- Brazil on its own paper: a BCB payment-institution authorization (June 4, 2025) and direct Pix participation (November 3, 2025).
- Gambling-first since 2012, with Zimpler GO packing registration, KYC, and the first deposit into one Pay'n'Play flow.
- ID+ ships with published performance numbers, vendor-stated: +43% deposits per user and +55% total deposit volume per user in Finnish iGaming (May 2026).
- TrueLayer ownership adds an FCA-authorized parent, a 20M+ user pay-by-bank network, and bet365-grade references one contract away.
- The consumer trust signal is bad and unmanaged: Trustpilot shows 2.6 of 5 across 66 reviews with 39% one-star, and the company has not answered a single negative review (checked live, July 2026).
- Zero public pricing, and the fee figures circulating in third-party directories trace to a source whose numbers failed our checks, so a buyer starts blind.
- One method class in one region pair: A2A only, deepest in Sweden and Finland plus Brazil, with no cards, no UK, and no US.
- The TrueLayer overlap is unresolved: Signup+ mirrors Zimpler GO, Verified Payouts mirrors Instant Payouts, and nothing published since the March 2026 close guarantees the brand or roadmap beyond a no-disruption statement.
Nordic-facing operators, above all Swedish and Finnish Pay'n'Play casinos that want Swish in the cashier and onboarding folded into the first deposit, plus operators entering Brazil who prefer Pix through a Finansinspektionen-supervised counterparty, and anyone already running Pragmatic Solutions or Bejoynd BE Core.
UK- or US-facing books, card-heavy global cashiers, and buyers who want a single provider covering cards, APMs, and crypto in one contract.
Markets & licensing
Zimpler's license sheet is short and unusually solid: a Swedish payment-institution registration under Finansinspektionen (corporate ID 556887-9984, checked in the FI register), its own Brazilian BCB authorization plus direct Pix participation, and an EU/EEA passport in between. Its permission class is payment institution (it holds no EMI license), and the sharpest compliance fact here is a court record: Sweden's appellate court confirmed in February 2025 that no illegal gambling was shown in its serving of EU-licensed operators.
Zimpler has no US entity, no money-transmitter licensing, and no US product, and none of the 2025-26 announcements point that way. Whatever US ambitions exist in the group sit with parent TrueLayer, which runs its own US push outside the Zimpler brand. US-first operators should look elsewhere in the segment, starting with Trustly.
Zimpler itself holds no UK permissions and offers no UK product. Since March 3, 2026 it belongs to London-based TrueLayer, an FCA-authorized electronic money institution under FRN 901096 since August 17, 2020 (register-confirmed July 4, 2026), and TrueLayer counts bet365 among its UK pay-by-bank references. A UK-facing operator would contract TrueLayer's products, so treat Zimpler as the Nordics-and-Brazil arm of that group rather than a UK route.

Licensing tier: Strong through ownership, thin on breadth: own license, own rails, and a court-tested position in its home market. The gaps are geographic, since nothing UK or US exists at the Zimpler level, and the Brazilian entries rest on the central bank's announcements.
Finland, Germany, and the Baltics run on the Swedish license's EU/EEA passport, with no separate local permissions.
Absent rather than banned: no Zimpler-level product or permission exists for either market, and UK reach is available only through parent TrueLayer's separate offer.

Integrations & engineering
One contract and one API instead of a separate deal per studio, feed, or PSP. Here's what connects, how fast, and on what stack.
One API with a hosted, Zimpler-branded payment flow in front of the player. Zimpler GO folds registration, KYC, and the first deposit into that same flow (the Pay'n'Play pattern), ID+ carries the verified identity forward so returning players re-authenticate with a fingerprint or Face ID, and payouts run instant on the same rails. There is no routing or acquiring layer around any of this: Zimpler is a single-method provider you slot into a cashier next to cards and wallets from someone else. Developer documentation was not publicly evaluable as of July 2026, so integration scoping starts with sales, or arrives prewired through the Pragmatic Solutions and Bejoynd platform connectors.
Not published (Jul 2026).
Products & tools
Four pieces make the offer: instant A2A deposits and payouts as the base, Zimpler GO folding onboarding into the first deposit, ID+ carrying verified identity between sessions, and direct Swish and Pix participation where local rails decide the market.
Instant Deposits & Payouts
The base product: card-free, 24/7 account-to-account deposits and instant player payouts across the Nordic and EU bank network, with a vendor-claimed 98% deposit conversion rate and no chargeback mechanism anywhere in the flow.
- Instant bank-transfer deposits, 24/7, with no card in the flow
- Player payouts marketed as landing in seconds, with AML checks embedded
- Cross-border SEPA payouts within the EU/EEA
- Recurring deposits for repeat players
- 98% deposit conversion rate claimed on the homepage (vendor-stated, undated)
- Push-payment design leaves no chargeback path
Zimpler GO
Registration, identity verification, and the first deposit compressed into a single flow, the Pay'n'Play pattern, sold both direct and prewired through the Pragmatic Solutions and Bejoynd platform connectors.
- Register, verify, and deposit in one pass through the player's bank
- KYC, source-of-funds, responsible-gambling, and bonus-fraud checks bundled in the Pragmatic Solutions integration (Oct 2023)
- Bejoynd BE Core connector announced Feb 24, 2026, aimed first at Denmark
- Withdrawals handled inside the same integration
Zimpler ID+
A reusable identity layer on top of the payment flow: one-step registration and verification the first time, then fingerprint or Face ID re-authentication on every return, with vendor-published uplift numbers from Finnish iGaming.
- One-step register-and-verify on first contact
- Biometric re-authentication (fingerprint or Face ID) with no repeated verification
- +43% deposits per user in Finnish iGaming (vendor-stated, May 2026)
- +8.5% average transaction value and +55% total deposit volume per user in the same release
Swish by Zimpler Direct & Pix
The two rails where Zimpler holds direct participation instead of renting access: Swish in Sweden, as the first payment company ever admitted directly, and Pix in Brazil under its own central-bank authorizations.
- First PSP to integrate directly with Getswish: announced Mar 10, 2025, live Sep 11, 2025
- No sponsor bank between Zimpler and the Swish rail
- Swish reaches 8.6M users and roughly 300k merchant organizations (vendor-cited)
- Direct Pix participation authorized by the Central Bank of Brazil, Nov 3, 2025
- Can supply Swish access to other PSPs
On the record
The history that matters: the milestones, the scale, the awards, and who runs it.
Zimpler started in 2012 in Gothenburg as PugglePay, a phone-number payments startup founded by Johan Friis and Kristofer Ekman Sinclair, and took its current name in 2016. The defining turns came fast after that: a Finansinspektionen payment-institution license in 2017, a pivot to account-to-account payments in 2018, A2A-only from 2020, and Johan Strand as CEO from 2021. Nordstjernan bought in as a shareholder in 2022 alongside a Malta office, São Paulo followed, and on March 3, 2026 TrueLayer completed its acquisition of the whole company with the brand, the Swedish license, and Strand all kept in place.

The take: Trustly is the segment benchmark and the only sensible pick for anyone needing the US, at several times Zimpler's scale and with a 2022 AML fine on its own record. Brite runs the cleanest regulatory sheet of the Swedish trio and sharper settlement engineering, but brings no Brazil and no court-tested Swedish clarity. Volt spreads across more rails and markets with far less gambling depth. Zimpler's case is concentration: the deepest Swedish stack thanks to direct Swish, a won courtroom record, and Pix on its own license, priced behind a closed door like all of them.
Settlement & commercials
Zimpler prices per deal, so exact figures only arrive at the contract stage. Here's what's on the record about the model and terms.
Per-merchant negotiated pricing, with no rate card, setup fee, or minimum on the record from any primary source (Jul 2026).
Everything commercial is on request. No public pricing, no published settlement terms, and no contract or lock-in signals surfaced from primary sources as of Jul 2026. The cost-side facts that do exist are structural: A2A push payments carry no chargeback exposure, and the direct Swish and Pix participations remove sponsor-bank intermediaries from those two rails.

Onboarding path
- 1Go through the zimpler.com contact flow, since pricing, settlement terms, and documentation access all start with sales
- 2Contract with Zimpler AB (Stockholm) and clear its merchant KYB and AML onboarding as an FI-supervised counterparty
- 3Map your license posture against your target markets, using the Swedish court rulings and the EU/EEA passport as the reference points
- 4Choose the route in: direct API with the hosted Zimpler flow, or the Pragmatic Solutions and Bejoynd BE Core connectors if you run those platforms
- 5Configure Zimpler GO and ID+ against your onboarding funnel, adding Swish for Sweden or Pix for Brazil where you operate
- 6Test the deposit and payout loops end to end, then go live with instant payouts on

Frequently asked
The things operators actually ask before signing.
Is Zimpler still a separate company after the TrueLayer acquisition?+
So far, yes. TrueLayer announced the deal on October 21, 2025 and closed it on March 3, 2026 once Finansinspektionen approved the change of control, and as of July 2026 the brand runs as Zimpler, a TrueLayer company, with its Swedish license and CEO Johan Strand retained. Press releases still go out under the Zimpler name, including the ID+ results in May 2026. The unresolved part is product overlap, since TrueLayer's Signup+ and Verified Payouts do much of what Zimpler GO and Instant Payouts do, and no roadmap beyond the closing statement's promise of no disruption has been published.
Can operators without a Swedish license take deposits through Zimpler?+
This is the litigated question, and Zimpler won it. Spelinspektionen ordered the company on July 6, 2023 to stop providing BankID payment services to gambling companies without Swedish licenses, under a threatened SEK 25M fine. The Administrative Court annulled that injunction in May 2024, and in February 2025 the Administrative Court of Appeal dismissed the regulator's appeal, writing that Spelinspektionen has not shown there was illegal gambling, nor that Zimpler has promoted such. No further appeal has surfaced as of July 2026, so serving EU-licensed operators aimed at Sweden stands as court-tested practice, though locally licensed brands may still weigh the optics.
Does Zimpler support Brazil and Pix?+
Yes, on its own authorizations. The Central Bank of Brazil certified Zimpler as a payment institution on June 4, 2025, covering payment initiation under Open Finance plus electronic money per the company's announcement, and on November 3, 2025 it received authorization to operate Pix as a direct participant, so Pix deposits and payouts clear without a partner in the middle. A São Paulo operation dating to 2022-23 sits behind both.
What is Zimpler GO?+
One flow that registers the player, verifies identity, and takes the first deposit, the pattern the Nordics call Pay'n'Play. It removes the separate signup form: the player deposits through their bank, KYC happens via BankID along the way, and the account exists by the time the money lands. ID+ extends this by making the verified identity reusable, so a returning player re-authenticates with a fingerprint or Face ID instead of repeating verification. On the platform side, Pragmatic Solutions has carried GO since October 2023 and Bejoynd's BE Core added Zimpler in February 2026.
What does Zimpler cost?+
No primary source says. There is no pricing anywhere on zimpler.com (checked July 2026), no published setup fee, minimum, or settlement schedule, and the fee figures that circulate in third-party directories come from a source whose numbers failed our accuracy checks, so we do not repeat them. Two structural points still help the cost case: A2A push payments carry no chargeback exposure, and the direct Swish and Pix participations cut sponsor-bank intermediaries out of those rails. Everything else is a sales conversation.
Is Zimpler licensed, and is it safe to contract?+
Zimpler AB (corporate ID 556887-9984) is a licensed payment institution supervised by Finansinspektionen, a status held since 2017, with EU/EEA passporting on top. Its permission class is payment institution, and it holds no EMI license. The parent since March 2026, TrueLayer Ltd, is FCA-authorized under FRN 901096, corroborated from TrueLayer's own legal pages. No security incidents are on record, and the one regulatory attack ended with the courts siding with Zimpler twice. The weak signal is consumer-side: a 2.6/5 Trustpilot score across 66 reviews, 39% of them one-star, with no company replies to negative reviews as of July 2026.
