BVNK Review
7.5/10London-based stablecoin payments infrastructure founded in 2021, holding a Malta MiCA CASP alongside UK and Malta e-money licenses and money-transmitter licenses in 39 US states, settling stablecoin payouts to 130+ countries in one to two minutes, and, since March 2026, under a definitive agreement to be bought by Mastercard for up to $1.8B.
Our read
Stablecoin-first with roughly four stablecoins across about eight networks, three settlement fiats, and no cards or APMs, and EEA clients lose USDT and PYUSD. Wide chain support and vIBANs lift it a notch above the segment's narrowest lists.
The widest stack in the set: Malta MiCA CASP and EMI, UK EMI (901057), and money-transmitter licenses in 39 US states, with a licensed-only gambling policy in writing. Deducted for the missing NY/CA/TX/NJ states and no gambling-supplier paper.
Public docs, an open sandbox, webhooks, embedded wallets, and vIBANs, plus ready integrations into PaymentIQ, Praxis, and BridgerPay cashiers. The strongest developer surface in the segment, held back only by an enterprise-only posture with no self-serve tier.
Stablecoin payouts in one to two minutes, 24/7/365, to 130+ countries, with a managed-or-self-managed custody choice and EMI-safeguarded fiat. The segment's best money movement, trimmed for the EEA stablecoin loss and no numeric SLA beyond minutes.
Mastercard-grade financial backing and an institutional security posture top the segment, but roughly five years in market against twelve-year peers, no named gambling client, and ownership in transition until the deal closes cap it.
No public rate card at all: the Malta Commercial Policy names a methodology but no per-transaction, setup, monthly, or minimum figures, so pricing surfaces only in the sales process.
Methodology. Our own score, a weighted average of six dimensions, tilted toward licensing and trust. With compliance carrying the segment's heaviest weight at .26 and trust and settlement .18 apiece, BVNK's broad license stack, Mastercard-grade stability, and minute-fast payouts set a high floor that its five-year age, hidden price card, and stablecoin-only coin list pull back to an overall 7.5. Read the full methodology
- The widest license stack in the segment: a Malta MiCA CASP and EMI, a UK EMI (FCA ref 901057), and money-transmitter licenses in 39 US states plus DC and Puerto Rico, all on the System Pay Services family.
- Mastercard agreed to acquire BVNK for up to $1.8 billion (announced March 17, 2026, expected to close by end of 2026), a validation and balance-sheet backing no other gateway in this set carries.
- Fast, always-on payouts: stablecoin settlement in one to two minutes, 24/7/365, to 130+ countries, with clean fiat landing in USD, EUR, or GBP named accounts.
- A choice of custody models: run it managed on BVNK's own licenses and custody, or self-managed by plugging in your own custodian and liquidity, which no rival here offers.
- The best developer surface in the segment: public docs, an open sandbox, webhooks, embedded wallets, and vIBANs, plus ready integrations into PaymentIQ, Praxis, and BridgerPay cashiers.
- An institutional security posture: ISO 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II, and DORA compliance, uncommon depth for the crypto-gateway segment.
- The youngest track record in the set. Founded in 2021, BVNK has about five years of history where CoinGate, Confirmo, and CoinsPaid each have twelve, and the Mastercard deal has not closed, so ownership is mid-transition until end of 2026.
- No pricing is published anywhere. The Malta Commercial Policy discloses a methodology but no figures, so a buyer starts every negotiation blind, exactly the gap Confirmo has.
- Not a card acquirer and stablecoin-first by design: no Visa or Mastercard merchant account, no 3DS, and roughly four stablecoins plus a few native coins, so operators must pair BVNK with a separate card PSP.
- Not one named gambling client: the gaming page shows operator logos without a case study, press release, or dated launch behind them.
- EEA operators lose USDT and PYUSD, which BVNK is discontinuing for EEA-based customers under the bloc's stablecoin rules, trimming the coin list exactly where the regulatory story is otherwise strongest.
- The US stack, though wide, skips New York, California, Texas, and New Jersey, the four states that matter most for US iGaming.
Enterprise and EEA or UK-licensed operators that want fast stablecoin payouts and clean fiat settlement on a MiCA and EMI-regulated, soon-to-be-Mastercard-owned counterparty, paired with a separate card PSP for the rest of the cashier.
Operators that need cards and APMs in one contract, long-tail altcoins, published pricing, a New York or New Jersey US footprint, or a long independent track record, and unlicensed or offshore-only books, which the financial-crime policy prohibits outright.
Markets & licensing
BVNK runs on the System Pay Services corporate family, and the license map is the broadest any crypto gateway in this set can show. System Pay Services (Malta) Ltd holds both a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider authorization from the MFSA (secured February 2026, passporting across the EEA) and a Maltese e-money license (C66961). System Pay Services Ltd carries a UK e-money license, ref 901057, though crypto itself is unregulated in the UK and sits outside that permission. In the US, System Pay Services (US), Inc. holds money-transmitter licenses in 39 states plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico, on top of a FinCEN money-services-business registration under NMLS 2531294. The caveat is the US map itself: the list is missing New York, California, Texas, and New Jersey.
Unlike the MiCA-only rivals in this set, BVNK actually operates across most of the US, holding money-transmitter licenses in 39 states plus DC and Puerto Rico through System Pay Services (US), Inc. under NMLS 2531294. The holes matter for gaming, though: there is no license in New York, California, Texas, or New Jersey, so a US-regulated operator in those states cannot route player funds through BVNK today. Confirm the exact state and product coverage for your footprint before you build.
System Pay Services Ltd holds a UK e-money license (ref 901057), more than most of this segment holds. Crypto is unregulated in the UK, so the UK authorization covers the fiat and e-money leg rather than the crypto rail itself. For a UK-facing operator that is a real contracting entity, with the crypto side governed by the group's Maltese CASP.

Licensing tier: The license stack is the whole argument for BVNK, and it is a stronger one than any rival in this set can make: a MiCA CASP and an EMI from Malta, a UK EMI, and money-transmitter licenses in 39 US states, all on the System Pay Services family. The deductions are structural: the US map skips the four biggest and most gaming-relevant states, and, as with every gateway here, there are no gambling-supplier licenses because the payment layer does not need them.
Payout reach runs to 130+ countries (Jul 2026), with the regulated spine being the EEA under the Maltese CASP and EMI, the UK under the FCA e-money license, and 39 US states under money-transmitter licenses.
The four missing US states are the gaming-relevant gaps in an otherwise wide footprint. Separately, the Financial Crime Risk Appetite Policy (Version 6, March 2026) prohibits unlicensed gambling, remote and non-remote, and certain offshore gambling jurisdictions, which is what makes the acceptance posture licensed-only.

Integrations & engineering
One contract and one API instead of a separate deal per studio, feed, or PSP. Here's what connects, how fast, and on what stack.
Operators integrate against a public REST API with webhooks, using a hosted payment page or the payments API for stablecoin and crypto deposits and the payouts API for single and mass withdrawals. Deposits auto-convert and settle to a named USD, EUR, or GBP bank account minutes later, so the operator never holds crypto on its balance sheet. Payouts run 24/7/365 with an average of one to two minutes, and the operator picks a custody model: managed, on BVNK's own licenses and custody, or self-managed, plugging in its own custodian and liquidity. Teams already running a PaymentIQ, Praxis, BridgerPay, PremierCashier, or Stratified cashier can add BVNK as a method and skip a direct build, and embedded wallets plus vIBANs cover platforms that want named end-user balances.
Not published as a figure. The public sandbox lets engineering start before KYB clears, with onboarding running from weeks to as long as three months in practice.
Products & tools
One stablecoin rail runs the whole loop: accept crypto deposits and settle them straight to fiat, pay players and partners out in stablecoins or three fiat currencies in a minute or two, and hold balances in USD, EUR, and GBP virtual accounts, all against a public REST API with a sandbox anyone can open before signing.
Payments: Deposits & Fiat Settlement
The pay-in side for operators: accept stablecoin and crypto deposits through a hosted payment page, lock and auto-convert them, and settle straight to a named bank account in USD, GBP, or EUR, with payment requests that can go out by email, SMS, or WhatsApp.
- Accept USDC, USDT, EURC, and PYUSD across roughly eight networks, plus BTC and a few native coins on deposit (Jul 2026)
- Automatic conversion to USD, GBP, or EUR at settlement into a named account
- Hosted payment page so the operator never holds crypto on its own balance sheet
- Multi-channel payment requests over email, SMS, and WhatsApp
- Drops into existing cashiers: PaymentIQ, Praxis Checkout, BridgerPay, PremierCashier, and Stratified
- Settlement in minutes, while a card deposit takes days to clear
Stablecoin Payouts & Settlement
The pay-out side: single and mass payouts to player and partner wallets in stablecoins, or converted to fiat, running 24/7/365 with an average settlement of one to two minutes, and a choice between letting BVNK hold the funds or plugging in your own custodian.
- Stablecoin payouts settling in one to two minutes on average, any day of the week (Jul 2026)
- Pay out from a USD, EUR, or GBP fiat balance without touching crypto yourself
- Managed model uses BVNK's own custody, liquidity, and licenses
- Self-managed model lets you plug in your own licenses, custodian, and liquidity partners
- Reach quoted at 130+ countries through one API
- Fiat leg safeguarded under BVNK's e-money authorizations
API, Sandbox & Embedded Wallets
The developer surface: a public REST API with webhooks, an open sandbox, embedded wallets, and virtual accounts (vIBANs) in USD, EUR, and GBP, so an engineer can scope and test the whole integration before anyone talks to sales.
- Public docs at docs.bvnk.com with no login (Jul 2026)
- Open sandbox at app.sandbox.bvnk.com with its own credentials
- REST APIs with webhooks for payment and payout events
- Embedded Wallets to give end users named crypto and fiat balances
- Virtual accounts (vIBAN) in USD, EUR, and GBP
- On and off-ramp conversion behind the same account
The history
Sales decks get rewritten for every deal. A dated record doesn't.
BVNK was founded in 2021 by three South Africans, Jesse Hemson-Struthers (CEO), Donald Jackson (CTO), and Chris Harmse (CBO), and built stablecoin payments infrastructure from the ground up rather than bolting it onto an exchange. The company is headquartered in London at 91-93 Farringdon Road with a regional hub in Malta, and grew fast on venture money: a $40M Series A led by Tiger Global in May 2022 at a $340M valuation, then a $50M Series B led by Haun Ventures in December 2024 with Coinbase Ventures and Tiger Global at around $750M, plus a later strategic check from Citi Ventures. That trajectory ended in a sale: on March 17, 2026 Mastercard announced a definitive agreement to acquire BVNK for up to $1.8 billion, including $300 million contingent on performance, with closing expected by the end of 2026.

Longevity and ownership
Switching vendors is expensive, which makes the company's staying power part of the purchase. What the contract says about your data decides how expensive an exit gets.
BVNK vs alternatives
No two vendors describe themselves the same way, which makes their own claims hard to line up. Every name here answers the same fields, so you can see where this one sits against the closest alternatives.

The take: CoinGate and Confirmo are the other MiCA path, both older and, in CoinGate's case, publishing a full price card that BVNK does not. CoinsPaid owns the deep casino roster and billions in processed volume that BVNK cannot show, but lacks the EEA authorization that BVNK's license stack provides. Pick BVNK when the widest license footprint and an institutional owner matter more than a long track record or a public rate, and confirm your US states and the fee schedule first.
Settlement & commercials
BVNK prices per deal, so exact figures land in the contract rather than on a public rate card.
Per-deal pricing set at onboarding, split into standardized fees for routine services and differentiated fees tied to operational cost, compliance, and custom agreements. No per-transaction, setup, monthly, or minimum figures appear anywhere public.
Pricing is quoted per deal and never published. The Malta Commercial Policy names standardized versus differentiated fees and a methodology commitment, but no setup, monthly, minimum, or rolling-reserve figures appear anywhere public, and sales runs through merchants@bvnk.com with no sub-enterprise tier at all.

Onboarding path
- 1Contact BVNK sales at merchants@bvnk.com, since every fee lives in a private schedule
- 2Confirm which System Pay Services entity signs your flows and that your markets are covered, checking the US state list against your footprint
- 3Scope the build from the public docs at docs.bvnk.com and open the sandbox at app.sandbox.bvnk.com while KYB runs
- 4Choose a custody model: managed on BVNK's licenses and custody, or self-managed with your own custodian and liquidity
- 5Integrate deposits through the hosted page or payments API and wire the payouts API for single and mass withdrawals, or add BVNK inside your existing PaymentIQ or Praxis cashier
- 6Go live on stablecoin settlement in one to two minutes, reconciling against webhook events and budgeting extra care for the EEA USDT and PYUSD cutoff
Support & account management
You can't demo service before you sign, so what a vendor puts in writing is the only floor you can hold it to.
Frequently asked
The things operators actually ask before signing.
Is BVNK licensed under MiCA?+
Yes. System Pay Services (Malta) Ltd, the group's Maltese entity, secured a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider authorization from the MFSA in February 2026, passporting across the EEA, and holds a Maltese e-money license (C66961) alongside it. The group also carries a UK e-money license (ref 901057) and money-transmitter licenses in 39 US states plus DC and Puerto Rico under NMLS 2531294. It is the widest license set of any gateway in this segment.
Does BVNK work with online casinos, and do they have to be licensed?+
It serves gaming as one of its verticals, offering crypto deposit acceptance with fiat settlement and fast player and affiliate payouts, and it integrates into cashiers like PaymentIQ, Praxis, and BridgerPay. Licensing is not optional: BVNK's Financial Crime Risk Appetite Policy (Version 6, March 2026) prohibits unlicensed gambling, remote and non-remote, and certain offshore gambling jurisdictions, so an operator must hold a valid gambling license in an accepted jurisdiction. The gaming page shows operator logos with no case study or press behind them, so there is no named casino client to point at.
What does the Mastercard acquisition mean for a merchant?+
On March 17, 2026 Mastercard announced a definitive agreement to buy BVNK for up to $1.8 billion, including $300 million contingent on performance, with closing expected by the end of 2026. For a merchant the near-term signal is stability and balance-sheet backing that no other gateway in this segment has, and eventual access to Mastercard's network for the fiat leg. The near-term caveat is that ownership is mid-transition until the deal closes, so contract terms and entity structure are worth confirming directly during onboarding.
Does BVNK handle card payments?+
No. BVNK is a stablecoin rail, not a card acquirer: there is no Visa or Mastercard merchant account, no Apple Pay or Google Pay, and no 3D Secure flow. An operator that wants cards and alternative methods in the same cashier pairs BVNK with a card PSP such as Nuvei or Worldpay and uses BVNK for the crypto deposit and payout side. The coin list is stablecoin-first, roughly USDC, USDT, EURC, and PYUSD plus a few native coins, across about eight networks.
What does BVNK cost?+
Nobody outside a signed agreement knows, and that is the weakest part of the offer. There is no public rate card: the Malta Commercial Policy states that BVNK publishes firm prices or discloses its pricing methodology, but names no per-transaction, setup, monthly, or minimum figures, and pricing is set per deal at onboarding. Sales runs through merchants@bvnk.com with no published sub-enterprise tier, so a buyer starts the conversation without a number to anchor on.
